Zaletti are one of the gems of Venetian baking. Some sources trace these biscuits back to the 1600s, and Carlo Goldoni mentions them in 1750 in his play “Il poeta fanatico”.

“Zalo”, in the Venetian dialect, means yellow: the name of these biscuits comes from the colour given by the corn flour in the dough. In this version they come with dark chocolate chips.
